It’s been a quiet year for new model announcements, but don’t be lulled into a false sense of security. Danbury is about to unleash a bevy of repaints, re-toolings, and from what I hear, a nice surprise or two before the year is out.
Here at DR, we love it when we get some hot news to share with our readers, but recently it has been brought to our attention that some of our news items have been posted on other boards without any attribution. Now, without further delay, the moment you’ve been waiting for: One of the ’69 muscle cars our friend Aaron hinted at, Danbury plans to announce a repainted 1969 Pontiac Firebird 400 this year for its 40th anniversary. Also in the pipeline is a retool of their venerable 1958 Fury into a 1958 Plymouth Belvedere hardtop, though personally I’d prefer they’d done it as a convertible. While the colors, trim, etc. for these models are not yet known, here are a couple of 1:1 images to whet your appetite; just click on the thumbnail to see the full-size image.
I hear there are a couple of exciting new tools due out this year as well, but that’s all I know at this point. Will share more particulars with you as they become available…
